How We Made Our Most Sustainable Luxury Perfume

Bright, effervescent and giddy with the promise of sun-drenched romance, Sun Soaked Parfum is a free-spirited ode to summer vacations. With its fruity top notes of crisp green pear and lush berries intertwining with a fresh floral heart, it celebrates the earth’s most luscious bounty.

When it came to crafting this niche luxury fragrance, it was essential that every aspect of its design was considered in accordance with earth-friendly principles. The result is our most sustainable perfume yet, marking a new direction for our brand that’s aligned with our B Corp certification and our commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.

Here are four ways Sun Soaked Parfum is making a difference as a sustainable luxury perfume. 

Green chemistry

We’ve partnered with renowned fragrance manufacturers DSM-Firmenich, a pioneer in safe, sustainable innovation, to harness the latest in fragrance technology using green chemistry. This means the essential oils in Sun Soaked Parfum are manufactured using sophisticated and energy-efficient extraction and manufacturing processes that minimise waste, pollution and harm to the environment across their entire lifecycle.

Considered ingredients

Sun Soaked is formulated using a combination of natural and sustainable ingredients, including those that are upcycled, renewable or readily biodegradable.

Upcycling is one of the most exciting innovations in the beauty industry right now, as it takes a byproduct from other manufacturing processes and gives it new use, dramatically minimising waste. There are three upcycled ingredients in Sun Soaked, including sustainably sourced American cedarwood sourced from Virginia in the USA.

We know this because all the ingredients in this perfume come with full transparency around their origins, which gives us end-to-end traceability and allows us to measure their impact along the way.

As with all LUMIRA products, Sun Soaked’s formula is 100% vegan and is free from parabens and sulphates.

Reduced carbon footprint

At every step in the creation of Sun Soaked, we’ve considered ways to minimise our carbon footprint, from the sourcing of materials to using renewable and upcycled ingredients and working with Green Chemistry in the formulation.

Our manufacturing is done locally in Sydney, Australia to reduce unnecessary transportation, and we produce in small batches to prevent over-ordering and waste. Recyclable packaging

The FSC-certified cardboard used for our outer packaging can go straight into your recycling, as can your empty Sun Soaked glass perfume bottle, once the atomiser pump is removed. Alternatively, you can return the empty, clean perfume bottle (or any LUMIRA glass vessel) to our Paddington boutique and we’ll recycle it for you.
